Introduction to computer architecture, including the effect of technology and software on current approaches. Examines instruction set architectures (with emphasis on MIPS and RISC), the evolution of CPU microarchitecture from single-cycle designs to pipelined and multi-issue systems, and memory hierarchy, caching, and virtual memory.
